We've been Busy !
This spring we had some Girl Scouts come to visit and a Barn Cleaning Day .The Girl Scouts wanted to earn their "horsemanship " merit badges. They had a list of things they needed to learn about . On a chilly April afternoon, we did just that. What better place to learn about horses than on a working horse farm ?
We sat in the tack room, discussing the items they had to learn about, and then it was time to "Meet A Horse" ! I had chosen All The Best- my older Appaloosa mare because she was quiet and calm. Plus she adored people. Alli got groomed as I told them some horsey things- and about the horse they were fussing over. Then I explained how to saddle and bridle a horse in a proper manner. We discussed safety around a barn and more. It was back to the tack room to eat their snacks they'd brought and we sat there "talking horses". I hope they had as much fun as I did !
Here's a couple of photos taken of the day:

Then a few weekends later we held a "CLEAN UP THE BARN" day. I invited everyone I thought would come and help clean/ neaten up the barn after a long, cold winter. We had cobwebs to remove, storage areas to neaten up and organize, fencing to repair, stones to move into piles near the fence posts, and more. Plus the tack room was a Mess ! A LOT of people came and I was So pleased. We all got so much accomplished, and then sat in the tack room to enjoy all the food everyone had brought with them. It was so much fun to get a big barn cleaned up with friends there helping !
I appreciate each & everyone who came and devoted their time to help ! Even the kids chipped in where they could. Below are a few shots of the day :
