April 5th, 2009 was Evie's Third Birthday !
We held a birthday bash for her at the farm on that Sunday. All of her human friends were invited and the other horses living here all got to see her have her birthday 'cake'. I made it especially for Evie and from her normal feed stuffs as we all know one never wants to add something new to a horse's diet suddenly. Didn't want our girl to feel sick that evening from a tummy ache.
It was so wonderful to see all those who came to help celebrate her turning three ! Many came from far away to wish her a "Happy Birthday"and That was very special to me. Such love for a big Percheron filly- and support too- it touched my heart.
Thank you to Everyone who came to sing the birthday song to Evie. She wanted to thank you all for the wonderful gifts she got too but didn't know how to so you'd understand, so I am.
We had a cake with horseshoes on it from the local bakery- purchased by Glenn. This was his idea after all.... He did a great job too- it tasted Delicious . Everyone met someone new I imagine and the nice thing is that horse people always have something in common. Whether you actually Own a horse or merely appreciate their beauty- all had a good time. At least from what I heard, they all did ! :)
As usual, at each birthday month, Glenn & I measure her to keep track of how she has grown. This time, Evie measured a little taller than 18 hands and even a little more when her butt was measured ! So our girl has been BUSY growing Up.
Here's a photo of Evie enjoying her birthday " cake" Notice her pretty necklace and mane decoration from her "Aunt Helen". Eve Loves Red , it seems !
