Show me your horse
and I will tell you
what you are.

This year, ( 2010) the PA Farm show offered a Pleasure Draft Horse show in addition to the one they always have.It was created to showcase the draft horses being used as Pleasure horses instead of the big high-stepping show horses one usually sees there.

We decided to enter Lynda in the Lady's Cart class. This would be her retirement from All shows. Glenn wrote up a few paragraphs for the announcer to read ( thank you, Mike !) after we had lined up.  Lynn was in prime form- full of herself as normal and looked ever so pretty in her winter coat . I'd actually gotten her CLEAN too. We packed the trailer once again, hoping for No bad weather that day. The Pa Farm Show is held in January, so it is usually awful weather to show We took our Gig and show harness.

We got there on time with one small mishap and got checked in with plenty of mishaps. This show was NOT well organized and it seemed to be a last minute thing to us. I've shown horses since I was 11, and this show was not going well already.  It turned out wonderfully though !

Lynn behaved well as I took her out for a walk about to see things. She was hyped to be at yet Another show, but being her perfect self, acted like the pro she was.  We got her all settled, chatted with some of the other folks showing there, got to see all the horses and found Glenn's friend who was part of the rodeo . She was kind enough to say she'd feed Lynn in the morning for us.

We got the barn work all done at home, and drove to the Farm Show Complex. Lynn was very glad to see me, and whispered sweet nothings thorough the wire.  I do so love this Percheron mare....

We warmed up some- to get the kinks out and to be Sure she was ready to show. I'd not really hitched her for a good while, so we did a short review of what was needed. Again- she remembered it all and perfectly.

We entered the class of ladies driving their horses and the class began.

Lynn was SUPER ! We showed all those draft horse drivers how a Pleasure Horse should move- and it was so much fun !

Then it was time to line up and find out who placed where....

See ?  We were on TV !  The announcer began calling winners from the lowest placing, to the top placings. Lynn and I waited, and waited, and waited some more....

We were down to the top three, and we were still in line-  you have it-  Waiting....  Then it was two, then when the announcer announced the 2nd place, I knew we had won it.  The crowd ( Packed house - which is even more fun to show with) went crazy, cheering and clapping ! Lynn & I did our winners lap and started to leave when the announcer realized he had Glenns' write up to read... he did and it was simply a wonderful way to end my best horses' career in showing. Below is our first place blue ribbon !

Below, I'm telling her
"yes ,it's true- No more shows for you "

So now my favorite mare is 100% retired and we had a great time at the Farm Show .
