A 6 week, one hour weekly session.....
In each weekly session, parent and child work together to groom a horse and learn the basics of safety and riding under the guidance of an instructor. The parent leads the horse while the child learns the beginning movements of riding.
*Week One : An Introduction:
You and your child will meet a pony, learning how to be safe around a barn and horses. Learn how to groom a horse properly- both parent & child work together.. Learn how to care for a horse.
In addition-how/ what to feed a pony.
*Week Two :Just the Basics:
Each child / parent will learn to tack up (saddle and bridle), will learn how to mount & dismount; stop, start & turn while performing basic maneuvers and negotiating an obstacle course ( Parent leading).
*Week Three : A Balancing Act:
You and your child will learn the importance of a balanced & secure seat.
We will practice exercises to gain balance and trust.
*Week Four : Let's Have Some Fun!
After a warm up , you and your child will learn to ride at a walk ( Parent does the leading).
*Week Five : Out in the Open:
Riding games are used to improve confidence and practice newly learned riding skills.
"Fetch the Tennis Ball" is one of our Favorites, as well as "Simon Says" !
*Week Six - Show Day !
Invite your family and friends over to show them what you have learned over the last six weeks.
There will be ribbons and certificates of completion awarded for all riders.
Total Cost $175.00 & includes all six sessions.
