*Working Student Program*

During my time in this area, I have realized there are horse crazy folks who have yet to learn to Correctly handle horses, care for horses and even how to tack them up properly, let alone know how to ride in sympathy with the horse.

Thus, our new 'Working Student' Program was created  & added to our list of 'things to do' here at WoodFinn.

A desire to learn, a willingness to work hard and do things the WoodFinn Farm way are essential. I am looking for students who Really love horses, farm life and are very interested in learning, improving their riding and becoming a part of our Team.

Students, if accepted, will be cleaning stalls, learn the different types of bedding most commonly used, how to groom a horse Properly, how to lead, and handle a horse from the ground, how to adjust tack in a proper manner, and the dreaded scrubbing of water buckets & feed tubs. They can learn correct stable management & feeding of horses; diseases, and how to care for wounds. Tacking up, cleaning tack, and whatever needs to be done around a barn ;when to call an equine vet, leg bandaging, and more.

Working students receive instruction and riding lessons on an earned basis, with opportunities to ride, learn and gain experience. There is plenty of chance to show, after approval & permission from Kris.

**Working Students are not considered employees, and so are not covered by Workman's Comp or farm health insurance; they must have their own health insurance arrangements.  No smokers and no drugs.  **

We want to create happy, educated, SAFE horse people...

If wanted, working students can go to horse shows with us. There, they can learn correct methods for horse care away from home. How to help as a team or crew. IF they become good enough riders or drivers to show themselves, they can participate in shows as well.

Working students at WoodFinn learn to be a Big part of a horse oriented "family" and to feel as though they truly ARE part of a horse farm.

If a working student wants to earn lessons, they must put in 8 hours of "work" before a lesson is scheduled...

Come, Join Us & Learn to become a well educated, knowledegable horse person !
